Burlap Faux Roman Shade Valances

Well, I did use the burlap, even though I decided on nautical for the dining room. I used 3/16" particle type board cut to fit window inset, covered with batting and took 9" strips of burlap and ironed them in half to make the overlap for the shades (also a finished strip on the top and a strip for the bottom). I stapled the strips and batting to the board and my husband added a 1 X 2 to the top to secure them to the windowsill. I love the look, natural fiber looks great! Tomorrow I deliver the washed dropcloths to the upholsterer to make my dining chair slipcovers and also a navy blue window seat cushion for the bay window in the dining room. It's finally coming together. More pics wo come!

Pie in your eye!

Did I mention my husband bakes delicious pies?? This is a Strawberry Rhubarb, YUMMY!!

Slipcovers, Yes!

I found someone to make slipcovers for my couch and chairs , finally! So I told them I wanted to use dropcloths and they noted that the fabric is not treated, so staining, etc. So I will test a piece of washed dropcloth treated with Scotchguard, problem solved. Stay tuned I will be blogging the results and deciding which way I want to go with the slipcovers. (Pics of stains and results)
I never have finished the dining room and I'm moving my way into the living room. You may have to stick with me for a while to see the transformation!

And this is what it's really all about!

It's Time!

Today was absolutely beautiful !  I finally got to be home and plant some flowers in the pots before our guests arrived this afternoon. It was fun to add Chocolate Bunnies and filled Easter eggs to the welcome basket for our guests! I also thought they might just want to have some fun finding Easter eggs, so I  hid them throughout Serenity , hehe!  I know, I should have taken some pics- next time I'll try to remember that it's ALWAYS more fun to look at pics than to read the blog.
Have a blessed day!
